Our client came in worried about a violation-of-protection-order charge in a domestic violence case. Krizman Law’s investigation revealed that the alleged victim had repeatedly contacted our client. The first step was to get clarity about the protection order and to establish that our client was not in violation of probation.

We prepared motions to modify the protection order and convinced Arapahoe and Denver counties to keep his probation supervision consistent. The alleged victim appeared in court and admitted she had repeatedly contacted our client. She contradicted herself and damaged her credibility.

This played a major role in negotiations.

The City Attorney initially considered recommending jail. But after reviewing the victim’s conduct and our client’s compliance with probation requirements, the prosecution agreed to reduce the charge to disturbing the peace, with a sentence of one year of supervised probation. The original violation charge was dismissed.

The case resolved with no jail, no new conditions beyond what he was already completing, and a clear plan moving forward. The client now has stable supervision, understands the full no-contact order, and left relieved knowing the matter is finally under control.
